Solido translates to "solid" in Portugese and is an apt name for this Brazilian walnut cutting board. Also known as Ipe, Brazilian walnut is one of the world's strongest and hardiest woods,  Exotic and highly sought after, ipe is indigenous to South America and often used in decking and outdoor furniture, due to its resistance against the elements. While ipe has a range of colors, the Solido features a luxurious chocolate tone that is uniform with streaks of luminous reds and dotted grain. Twice as hard as white oak, ipe makes for a fine wood for cutting boards due to its durability.

The Solido is part of our Ipanema collection, our exclusive line of Brazilian tropical wood cutting boards. Each board is hand crafted and made under the supervision of a 4th generation family of woodworkers in the Sao Paolo region that takes great care in ethical sourcing of wood and materials. Plus, each cutting board is made partially or wholly from reclaimed or rescued woods to reduce environmental impact.

Made in Brazil and imported by CuttingBoard.com

Fun fact: The Coney Island boardwalk, one of the most trafficked A was made from ipe boards and lasted over 25 years before needing replacement.
